Don't call it a resolution

We’re three days into 2024, and many of us haven’t settled on what we will do differently this year than last year. No moonshots. More time to enjoy nature, perhaps—if you can swing it, maybe take Fridays off to do just that. It's about pursuing a more joyous lifestyle. For example, cooking dinner more often can be a New Year’s resolution (if you want to call it that).

Like it or not, Mickey Mouse—the Steamboat Willie version born during the Prohibition era—is free from its copyright cage. We can now copy, share, and build on this iconic image. Mickey Mouse is not alone, though. Thousands of copyrighted works from 1928 are currently in the public domain.
